Seven Days

Thursday October 2, 2008
Satdee, September 27 I cant get the image of Craig Bellamy out of my head . . . snarling and spitting, his head lolling about like something out of The Exorcist. He is dead-set rattled. State of Origin, where he went from the best coach in the universe after game one to getting his pants pulled down by Mal Meninga in games two and three, put a chink in his aura of invincibility, and he has become increasingly incoherent ever since.

The Charisma Of Religion

Saturday October 16, 2004
According to American charismatic preacher Bob Larson, John Safran is a breeding ground for the devil and, as an exorcist, Larson's the man who can cleanse him. The result is that the final episode of John Safran Vs. God (SBS, 8.30pm, Monday) becomes the most extraordinary half-hour of television you might ever see. Inspired by Safran's self-referential style I would like to quote my first review of this show: "You, John Safran, are a funny and smart guy, but the only spirit you're ever going to ...

Banning The Exorcist Stops Good Message Getting Through

Saturday April 7, 2001
I am really confused by the Victorian Government's ban on the Good Friday showing of the film The Exorcist. This film is almost a classic medieval morality play. I doubt if the Vatican film unit could have done a better job in demonstrating the ultimate power of good and righteousness over the po
